Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
Decorations
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tablespoons milk for icing
  • 1 cup edible flowers for decoration

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Shape and Bake
  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  2. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
Decorate
  1. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and milk to create a smooth icing.
  2. Once the cookies are cool, drizzle the icing over the cookies and decorate with edible flowers.
  3. Allow the icing to set before serving.
