Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decorations
  • 1 cup edible flowers such as violets or pansies
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Shape and Bake
  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Flatten each ball slightly and press edible flowers into the top of each cookie.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve
  1. Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
