Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for a few minutes until smooth.
Make the Filling
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
Assemble the Rolls
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into 8 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
Bake the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before icing.
Make the Icing
- In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
