Method
Prepare the Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Thinly slice the peeled potatoes using a knife or mandoline.
Make the Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
Assemble and Bake
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce. Top with additional shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

- Let the scalloped potatoes cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
