Prepare the Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, layer the sliced potatoes evenly.
Make the Sauce
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
Assemble and Bake
- Pour the cheese sauce over the layered potatoes, ensuring they are well coated.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the additional cheddar cheese on top, and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley and serving.
