Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
Sauce
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter for greasing the dish
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
Toppings
  • 1 cup additional shredded cheddar cheese for topping
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, layer the sliced potatoes evenly.
Make the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the cheese sauce over the layered potatoes, ensuring they are well coated.
  2. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil, sprinkle the additional cheddar cheese on top, and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley and serving.
