Method
Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
Combine Wet Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk, molasses, and honey until smooth.
Form the Dough
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
Shape and Bake
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet. Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Cool and Serve
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
