  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup ground almonds
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk room temperature
Fruits
  • 2 medium ripe pears peeled and sliced
Topping
  • 0.25 cup sliced almonds

Method
 

Prepare the Cake Batter
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground almonds.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and buttermilk until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Fold in the sliced pears gently into the batter.
  2. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
