Irish Jambon Pastries

Ingredients
  

Pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
Filling
  • 200 grams cooked ham diced
  • 100 grams cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional
  • 1 egg egg beaten, for egg wash

Method
 

Prepare the filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ham, grated cheddar cheese, and mustard if using. Mix well.
Assemble the pastries
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares.
  2. Place a spoonful of the ham and cheese mixture in the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to form triangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  3. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.
Bake
  1. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm.

Notes

These pastries can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
