Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
Cheese and Cream
  • 2 cups Gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
Seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme chopped
Topping
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Method
 

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the Gruyere cheese.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and Gruyere cheese.
Bake the Dish
  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil, mix the Panko breadcrumbs with melted butter, and sprinkle over the top.
  3. Bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
