Bread
  • 8 slices Challah or Brioche bread Cut into cubes
Egg Mixture
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk recommended
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
Topping
  • 1 cup Maple syrup For serving
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar For dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Place the cubed bread in the baking dish and pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
Baking
  1. Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
