Prepare the Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, milk, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
Bake the Dish
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil, add breadcrumbs on top if using, and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
