Method
Prepare the Sandwiches
- Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, layer the cheddar and Gruyère cheese evenly.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
Cook the Sandwiches
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Serve
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing.
- Serve warm with your favorite soup or on their own.
