Prepare the Glaze
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, black pepper, and mustard powder.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
- If using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry and add it to the saucepan.
- Continue to simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
