Ingredients
  

Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup bourbon preferably a smooth bourbon
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 1/2 cup soy sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 1 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch slurry if used

Method
 

Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, black pepper, and mustard powder.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  3. If using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry and add it to the saucepan.
  4. Continue to simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze has thickened to your desired consistency.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.

Notes
