Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 8 slices thick-cut bread such as brioche or challah
Custard
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar granulated
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional
Berries
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • 1 cup whipped cream for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Cut the bread into cubes and place half of the cubes in the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the berries on top.
  4. Pour half of the custard mixture over the bread and berries. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, berries, and custard.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
Baking
  1. Bake the casserole covered with foil for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and serving with whipped cream.
